USB SD Memory card reader/writer won't write... help

I bought a USB SD memory card reader/writer (says so on box). When I plug it in and use the SD > Micro SD adapter it will read everything fine it just wont write. Ive tried formatting the microsd card... there is no LOCK on the microsd card but the regular SD adapater is set to "unlocked". Any ideas? It won't let me write.
