Awhile ago I got a problem where all of my usb devices would become unrecognized. To fix itI have to go into hardware manager uninstall all the devices under usb and reboot. Lately it has been getting more and more frequent. I'm not sure if it is OS or hardware causing the problem.

Thanks,
Wes

I had an old scanner that did that to me. For some reason it hated VIA usb controllers.. would do fine on any other usb controllers. That was when USB was a new fangled connection on my super fast k6 2 450.

Do you have the chipset drivers loaded for your motherboard?

I fixed it it seems that it was my new 120gb external hd. When I thought back on it these problems started around the same time I got that drive so I unplugged it and havn't had a problem sense.
