well i felt like it was time for a reformat and new install of xp. i install xp and update all my drivers and what not. now i remember when i first installed xp and got my comp up and running my usb ports would not work until i installed windows xp sp2. so i install that, but my comp won't recognize any usb devices. in my device mananger two usb controllers are recognized and one is not, but whenever i try to plug in a device, like a printer, it's never detected, what gives?

I had that problem with a computer, too. I right-clicked the USB ports in device manager, told it to update drivers and I was good.

yea update the drivers, then if it asks for a file, run a search for it on the side, when you know the location if it, point the driver update wizard to it....

it probely wont ask for a file and will find the correct driver....then you good to go.
