Usb port death

I am a student at OSU and recently I have been having a problem where my usb port that my mouse is in dies whenever I am in any Valve (half life) game. They are the only ones I play so I don't know about others. It occurs in fullscreen and while running in a window, and after seeing this I also noticed that when not in a large application, it will periodically freeze for a second or two, then resume functioning. If take the mouse out then plug it back in, it will work again until it happens again. Eventually it freezes about every ten seconds. If anyone can help i would really appreciate it, it's incredibly irritating. Thank you

Whats the specs on your computer. Off the bat i'd say its a weak PSU.
