Is there such a device, that would plug into an exsiting USB 2.0 port, and give me PCMCIA slots? This would allow use of PCMCIA adapters on a desktop, or add more to a laptop.
I looked around, but can't seem to find anything.

Thanks for your help.

wondering also

i know you can buy a PCI --> PCMCIA card for desktops i installed one into a desktop last week so the cust. could install a T-Mobile Hot Spot PCMCIA card.

as for the usb ---> PCMCIA only one i was able to find was only worked with the companies wifi cards, and stated that it would not work with othe memory/pcmcia cards.

What product was this that was PCI->PCMCIA?

That would be great, as I could share my Audigy2 PCMCIA between two machines.

You'd think that they would have a USB pcmcia controller ... it only makes sense. really. Right?

Eh, not really. I mean, what PCMCIA cards do you see nowadays except aircards or sound card extensions? The market is pushing USB2 as the standard for connecting anything to laptops, and it should, too. Also, with the presence of wired ethernet, wireless ethernet, and even a 56k modem on many laptops, doesn't that make the PCMCIA slot rather obsolete?

Just my $0.02.
