usb or analog for headset?

Is there a diference, i mean can u tell by the quality of the sound b/w the analog and usb. Analog is prolly better im guessing becasue it plugs into your soundcard directly and usb is a shared resource............I dont know, I need some opinion from people who used both..............

I would use analog. usb will tax your system more for the reasons you stated. Chances are if you have a halfway decent sound card analog will be better quality, and cheaper.

Now, if games supported more than one sound devices, usb could be very nice. Have enviromental sounds play over the speakers, and have only voice chat come through the headset. You would need two sound devices, and software that supports it.

Then why even think of messing with usb headset. Hell why mess with a headset at all. Nice card and nice speakers.

However if you must need a headset to be quiet then use analog and plug in at the z-680s pod.

yes i must use headset for a quiet solution without waking up the whole house since i wake up early sometimes or go to bed very late when everyone is asleep, so the headset comes in handy, but when Im not chatting during games(using Team Speak) then i use the speakers for games and dvds cuz they sound better during the day time.....

ok, since now we all had narrowed down on what i need, then recommend a good headset plz

I would recommend the Sennheiser PC150. Use a google search to find some good prices, get em for less than $50. I like them better than the Platronics M90's, whose mic blows.

quick question about the z680's pod, ok when i plug my headset into the z680's pod, it will play in stereo? Would it really make a difference if i unplug my z680's and just plug in headset and configure it with audigy 2zs for headphones settings instead of having it be at 5.1 with z680's and plugged into the pod?
