USB micro plug > 130 degrees while not plugged into device!?

I went to plug my phone in and thought I got a metal splinter or something from the USB plug. It was REALLY hot. It was not plugged into anything and just lying on the floor. The end is bent a little so I guess that might cause it but I've never seen anything like this. Anyone else have any experience with this? Could it be a bad mobo port or probably just the cable?

If it's hot then current must be flowing through it. There isn't normally a path for current to flow when nothing is connected, so it must be the cable that's faulty.
