Damn near every kvm switch I've used has been squirrel-y and dysfunctional when I try using usb ports on the switch. Only reliability I've experienced is strictly using ps2 ports. Soon I'm gonna need a 4 port kvm which will reliably work using only usb ports. Need suggestions. Thanks.

I've had the same issue. PS2 was always awesome and USB always sucked.

We use ATEN usb kvm's and I have never had an issue with the 30 plus that I've used over the years. Specifically the 8 port and 16 port models, haven't used anything smaller but I'd expect the same kind of service from a 4 port.

I never had any issue with my kvm switches, when i use usb ports.
If your kvm switch original is made for ps/2, try this PS2-USB converter

I bought an iogear gcs1743. Haven't tried it yet, been busy with other things. Thanks for the replies.

Have a Belkin OmniView Pro3 running all USB - haven't had any issues so far (about a year)

But it's true, our older PS/2 Belkin OmniView Pro (originals) have been working non stop for..probably 10 years now without trouble.

I've used several iogear, belkin, etc usb kvms and not really had any issues.
