I'm part of the FIRST Robitics team.. Were trying to get USB controllers to work with our robot controller. Is there any way to convert USB to DB15... Ive seen USB to DB9 converters on websites. http://www.lennard.net.nz/electronics/usbtors232.html

Is there any way I can mod that? We really need to solve this issue! I know it would require some kind of processor to run it because its a digital to analog conversion. Has anyone ever heard of this or have any ideas on how to get this working??
 
It might be possible, but you would need a usb host and some way output signals to go to a game port. That site you linked to converts rs232 TO USB, not the other way around. It does not allow one to plug a usb device into an rs232 port. That is quite simple due to the way usb is designed. Usb is not designed, though, to allow one to plug a usb device into a low speed, very specialized port like a game port. It isn't going to happen without some expensive electronics, which certainly are not available in an off the shelf consumer device. I'd say your best bet is to simply open up your controller and rewire the switches and pots and whatever to directly interface to the game port. There is no way in hell you are going to plug a usb device into a game port.

By the way, DB15 and DB9 are just connectors. There is nothing inherent in those connectors that specifies which protocol is being used. USB is a protocol(which, in addition to many other things, also defines the connectors), but DB15 is just a connector. You can put a DB15 connector on a usb device but it is still a usb device.
