Hey guys, my dads computer is having some strange issues that I have never seen before. It seems that all his USB ports are running extremly slow. So slow that it takes like 30 mins to read my USB drive. Also during printing, it takes a very long time to print. The computer was just formatted, and a fresh copy of win xp pro sp2 is on there. Is there any special usb drivers to install?? His motherboard is the Asus A7V600, and I have installed all the usb drivers on the webpage. Any suggestions?

Thanks

That board supports 8 USB connects though apparently didn't ship with the extra bracket,
meaning that only 4 connects were avalible for use out of the box.

Anyway, how many are you actually using and is there an option in Bios that you need to enable to engage them all? If you've already dealt with all of that kindly disregard this.

Also, has the bios been updated beyond version 1001 or at least to version 1005? Or beyond? I seem to recall reading once, that that board seemed rather slow with version 1001. Yet just because I read it somewhere doesn't mean it's true, right? :p

I had a good guide for USB issues in my papers somewhere, and if I can find it again, I'll be sure to post it here.

This bumps you back-up and perhaps some others will drop-in.

gl :)

I have tried using all the ports, same slow speeds. I will try updating the Bios, hopefully that will work.

Thanks for the bump!

I'd suggest updating your chipset drivers in WinXP if you haven't already done so. My first thought was that you're running at USB 1.1 or 1.0 because of crappy drivers
