USB issue with Apple 20"

When I plug the USB cable from the Apple 20" Cinema Display into my computer, I am getting an error message in Device Manager. There is a yellow ! mark next to "USB Human Interface Device", with Code 10 "The device cannot start". What is wrong? I have tried other USB ports on the back of the computer. Thanks!
