Well i am having a USB issue. I am using a rezer tarantula keyboard, a microsoft mouse (optical, generic), and a xbox 360 gamepad. Sometimes I have a problem, mostly with my gamepad and keyboard, where suddenly they will just stop working. I am using an Asus
p5k deluxe mobo, and im utterly stumped on what the problem could be. if i go into device manager, goto the generic usb hub, and reset it, all is well. My ps2 keyboard works fine. my mouse works fine (it is usb). It is mainly my xbox 360 controlelr and keyboard, but rarely my mouse. Any advice appreciated. Thanks

ok some more info. I tried disabling all the usb root hubs in bios and letting windows reinstall.... nil..

the problem seems to be getting worse now.

It now happens to both the keyboard and mouse.

I basically cannot use my computer because of this

If you are comfortable doing bios updates, I have heard that the p5k gets better USB performance once bios is updated.

I'm going to go ahead and hijack this somewhat, since im having much of the same problem.
Rebooted after windows update one day (think it was for onboard ethernet drivers), and now all USB ports dont work. They work fine in bios, but not safe or normal; this is on vista x64. Can't do much with the device manager or any other thing to check as I don't have a ps2 input device at the moment. Its odd, its like they arent even receiving power since numlock or my razer deathadder doesn't light up.

more info: usb devices now will not turn on period and nothing can be done with them.

From what I am reading this looks to be a problem with something with the windows update. I think that may have been about when my problems have started...... I will look into this further and let you guys know what I find, and if anyone else wants to kick in that would be super... :p

FOUND SOLUTION:

First I booted into safe mode, than i went into device manager and deleted all usb items I could find. Next, I shut the computer down. I unplugged the power from the wall, hit the power button a few times, then let it sit overnight. This morning vista installed new usb drivers, and it worked and has been working since *crosses fingers*.

pretty much what i just did an hour ago. Booted up normally, with a PS2 mouse/kb combo. Deleted the usb entries in the device manager, reboot, works.
