Hey guys,

I am about to purchase this headset from bestbuy which is a USB headset:

However, I was told from someone that I shouldn't buy a USB headset because of the sound quality which tends to be worse than the standard mic jack headsets. Does anyone know if this is true or if the headset I'm looking at is nice? I want to spend $50 max and find the nicest headset I can for occasional gaming.

Thanks,

Dan

Yea, with a USB headset that becomes the soundcard when using it as it has it's own DAC built in. USB will use more cpu resources and may sound worse but may not too. My EMU 0404 USB plays over USB and sounds better than any X-Fi but that uses a high end DAC. Sennheiser have a decent headset that are not USB and I have read that Logitech does too. USB is a lot easier to set up as the other type would require seperate lines for mic and audio from your soundcard. Rocketfish make pretty good gear but don't know about that headset. I've bought some of their audio cables though and I like them. Can't you try the USB headset and return it if it doesn't work out for you?

I don't know about BB return policy but unless you have an EMU forget about USB.
