My kids destroyed my headset so now I cant talk in CS:mad:. I notice they have USB headsets now. I have an IC7MAX3 w onboard realtek sound.
Is the USB headset any better than the normal one I plug into the MOBO headers? Will it even work ok? The "getting soundcard output from the usb" is throwing me a little. I dont mind paying the price difference if the USB gives me any advantages over the normal ones.

dont do it. I had one, what a waste of money. The sound quality was awful. It does not use your soundcard, its has an extremely cheap "usb soundcard" built in. Chewed up lots of extra cpu time on top of that. It wasnt bad speakers, the sound chip was bad, i swear it was like 16khz 8 bit sound or something. I got mine for about $45 at best buy.

Get a regular analog one for the same price and it will sound 100x better, as well as not slow your games down.

The only time i would suggest one is for a computer that doesnt have any soundcard at all, then its probably the cheapest way to get voice calls, no good for gaming tho.

PC-150 is my recommendation. But PC-155 if you want USB.
