USB header advice..

Alright guys, I have an AsusP4P800Deluxe. I'm looking at opening up the onboard USB headers... I want to put them to a custom faceplate in the open 3.5" bay. In total, I need a cable 26" long from header to USB female plug... So, I've found 16" cables as the longest, and I've found 3' header to header cables... I was thinking, if I can't find a 26" cable (which I'd really like, because it would just look neater..), I could take the 16" header to plug cable I already have, and put one of the longer header to header cables onto it with some rouge pins and electrical tape - not my favorite idea, but it'll work, and it's not like it's gonna show.
