I connected my external harddrive to transfer some files. it was working fire but when I plugged in another usb while the file was being transferred, it stopped and now even if i replug the usb, the comp wont recognize it. I want to try resetting all the usb ports but how do i do that??

What other things have you tried? Rebooting? Power down USB drive? need more info

I've had this problem too. If its the same thing I had, its a Windows drive lettering issue. The wacky thing is there seems to be no good fix. The upshot is that I plugged my drive in a few weeks later and it worked just fine. Strangest thing.

One thing you might try is resetting the buffer on the drive. This can be done by turning it off or unplugging it for a certain amount of time and then plugging the power and data cables in in a certain order. Didn't help me but its worth a shot. You'll have to google to see how to do it on your particular drive probably.
