USB hard drive speed?

I know that IDE is rated for 133mb/s, and USB 2.0 is rated at 480mb/s....does that mean an IDE hard drive in a USB 2.0 enclosure will be just as fast as one hooked to an IDE port on your motherboard?

Nope, not even close. IDE (no matter PATA or SATA) is always faster than a USB 1.1/2.0 drive would EVER be. It's 480 Mbps not 480 MB/sec. Not even Ultra-wide scsi 320 can do that.

right, which works out to 60MB/s if I remember right
you'll actually see more like 40MB/s, so no, it won't be anywhere close to the same speed
