USB Flash Drive Question

I'm got this 8GB USB Flash Drive and I notice that when I plug it into the front panel USB ports on my system....the windows balloon pops up telling me that its installing drivers for it, then tells me that it was unable to install drivers for it. I look in Device Manager and the thumb drive then has the little yellow exclamation point so I choose "uninstall" to get rid of it. Other thumb drives work just fine in that same USB port. Now if I take that same thumb drive and plug it into the port on the side of my monitor or my keyboard...windows recognizes it, installs drivers, and uses it just fine.

Just a curiousity more than anything.....does anyone have any idea what might be going on or what this might cause this?

Could be that the ports on the front are on one USB controller (could be coming off the PCH) and the ports on the back are on another (could be another support chip), and they have different supported devices built into the drivers.
