Does anyone happen to know if the new monitors which accept USB C also support USB data over the same cable? I would love to relocate the computer to another location and simply have a USB-C wall plate which the monitor connects to, then acting like a hub for the keyboard/mouse to connect to. I've seen that some of the newer GFX cards do have USB output, but it's less than clear if it's strictly video or not.

You might be better off getting a USB-C docking station and attaching it to the back of the monitor.

Dell U3219 supports USB 2.0 (not 3.0) data over the USB C connection. This in fact allows the USB ports on the monitor to then act as a KVM where the monitor is the hub and connections go into it. I don't use the 2.0 connectivity (no need) but there are monitors out there that are capable.
