I have been hearing rumors that they are going to bring out USB 3.0 is this true or are they just rumors??

yes it's true although it won't be released until 2009 or 2010. It will be 10x faster than usb 2.0

I believe so. According to wikipedia, the speed of USB 3.0 is 600MB/s while eSata (300) is only 300MB/s Source
