USB 3.0 not working

I recently bought a new laptop (HP DV6-6117dx). The first thing I did was a reformat the computer. Now my USB 3.0 ports do not work. I downloaded and attempted to install both the current chipset drivers and the previous version from HP's website. It just tells me that the installation failed. I don't think it is a hardware issue since the ports worked before the reimage. Also my usb 2.0 ports work.

Any suggestions would be helpful

Some of those USB 3.0 ports need a different driver. I'd check HP's site for the driver you need.
 
Neither of those worked but Thanks for trying. I think this thing is still under warranty i will prob try that.
 
Hp will just want you to use their image and reimage it. If you didn't burn a set of restore discs before erasing it, they will probably charge you for those. Do you still have the recovery partition?
 
When you go into device manager and look at Universal Serial Bus controllers, what drivers does it say are installed? You may want to take a screenshot and post it.
 
Does HP still have their 2 options when recovering systems? My HP laptop I bought about 1.5 years ago had the option to do a factory install or a bare minimum install that does not have trailware, only drivers and HP support, any other software that you want you can look for it in the HP SwSetup folder.
 
As a relatively random suggestion, here is the link to the USB 3.0 drivers from SIIG for one of their add-on cards. They use a Renesas chipset, which is one of the most commonly used chipsets for providing USB 3. From what I read about your HP model, it uses this chipset as well. It might work or you may get rejected immediately.

This link will get you the Renesas 2.1.16.0 drivers. The first ones that people linked are the Renesas 2.0.32.0 drivers while Jeffman was sharing an even more recent 2.1.19.0 driver package. Sometimes an intermediate driver package will do the trick.

One trick you may want to try is to delete those disabled USB devices from the device manager list, then install the USB 3 drivers, then reboot. Sometimes that allows it to break the link with previous driver attempts and re-do the association with your new drivers.
