US prosecutors are saying that they have captured the notorious “Spam King” in Seattle earlier today. The guy faces 65 years in prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted on all counts….probably more if the judge and jury are among the millions of people he spammed. :D

Robert Soloway, 27, was arrested in Seattle, Washington, a week after being indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of identity theft, money laundering, and mail, wire, and e-mail fraud. "Spam is a scourge of the Internet, and Robert Soloway is one of its most prolific practitioners," said US Attorney for the Western District of Washington Jeffrey Sullivan.

Coincidence or not, today I noticed that, in the past week, it seems like I've amassed quite a bit less spam than usual.

Score one big spammer for the good guys!

Inmate: "What did you do to get in here?"

Robert: "I spammed people."

Inmate: "So your the one who ripped-off my momma. Get on over here boy. You're going to get your ass spammed!"

Sorry, I just had to do it. :D

lol nice one acegoober! :D, anyways good job with catching this guy and one word for the spammer....... OWNED :D*sorry for the caps but thought it was nessecary:p

I hate the guy as much as the next guy, but I dont think he deserves 65 year to life. I think at most he deserves 5-10 max, and I am leaning on 5 more then 10.

Why?

Someone made millions upon millions of dollars scamming and spamming people and you just want to slap them on the wrist?

Identity theft, money laundering, and mail, wire, and e-mail fraud, then yes. Just spamming, no.

But this guy was just stealing, so he gets what he deserves.

I hope he gets what he deserves. I'll leave the rest to your imagination.

He'll be making lots of new friends soon. I hope soap on a rope is standard prison issue...

I really need to read more before posting  cut his head off(both)!

This "Spam King" title is getting overused....from Tracy Richter to others, to the guy in the current article...how many people have earned the title "Spam King"?

All the same, I hope he loses any and all money he made from spam. I think the true punishment for spammers should be the loss of all profits made from doing it; we've seen too many people who still had plenty in the bank after fines and jail time.

When it comes to punishment for spammers,I keep thinking of a line from "Hellraiser".
"Your suffering will be legendary, even in Hell".

He's not much of a spam king if he only made 773,000, there is something wrong here.

Wow, he will get 3 to 4 times more than most people get for murdering others.

Hi Robert... :D, dude making $773,000(very close to $1 million) just by spamming is aloooooooooooot. I'd say he deserves the punishment or what the court should make em do is make him pay up every penny of his money then death sentence :D

Executives and high levels of management screws over employees and their families out of way more than that, and they usually only recieve a fine a fraction of that or a hotel jail sentence for a very brief stay.

Why did it take so long to catch this miscreant? Is he in the pokey?

Why did it take so long? Most likely, because they had to PROVE that it was him spamming. Most spammers use zombie PC's in order to make it HELLISHLY hard to figure out that it is them spamming.

I'm also glad that this guy is gone, I just checked my mom's usually spam-ridden account...... only 2 spam messages. Usually, day-to-day there are 15 or more.
