Hey all, i got me a big situation!

I got a guy needing to edit a short film, Its for a screening in the theatre THIS SUNDAY!
I need to get him able to edit, and the film on either DVD, or MiniDV (Camera tapes)

The editing isnt the issue, he has some software, and the film os shot and ready. The problem is getting it off!

When the film is rendered (in Moviestar 5) as an MPEG II file, all is ok, but when its put onto the standard VCD, its grainey, and if its projected bigger, its not gonna be any good!

What i need to know is how to i get it crystal clear?

Is the problem the codecs used to render the film?
Is it the VCD format?
what is it!?

i REALLY need this sorted VERY soon!

Have you tried Pinnacle? I know friends that saved movies as a VCD and they had good quality.. however it was not likely perfect.

Hope someone can help ya out.
 
i would not reccomend using vcd format for something like this. vcd is comparable to vhs in terms of quality. how will you be projecting it? with what type of projector? if it is a computer projector, i would just make the highest quality video oyu can and just putting it on a cd as a file. and not creating a vcd
 
i dont know the specifics of the projectors, All i know is it needs to be DVD, or MiniDV, and if i play it on a TV, its crystal clear. thats all i been told.

I agree VCD isnt the best, it does have a pixel Restriction, thats what leads me to think its because its on VCD its grainey/blockey, because it has to be made smaller. But im looking into it.

Anyone got any thots?
 
The problem could be with the software used, but keep in mind that it could very easily be the hardware that's at fault. In either case, he could re-run it through Premier Pro (etc) then try to post-clean (repair) it if it still comes out jagged.
 
Sorry, left out the part about re-encoding it in a different format.
 
Im not ruleing out the software, Altho im sure we had the same problem with Adobie Premiere. il check it tho. thanks
