Hi

I'm in the middle of building a new computer. The two components in question are:

NF7-S V.20
Maxtor 120gb SATA drive

So, I start up the computer, but my BIOS and Windows installation both don't detect the HDD.

I didn't touch the jumpers once I got the drive, and connected it to the SATA 1 connector on the mobo, but still nothing.

Any help/suggestions you guys can give me would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

When it powers up there's a red and a green light right beside where the SATA cable plugs into the mobo. Could be insignificant, but it could also mean something.

Ok. Now when it powers up, the hard drive is recognized by the bios/loading screens, but not by windows installation. When I insert the SATA Driver Disk all it says is "non system disc"

The SATA drivers are on a floppy? You may need to install those during windows installation, but I'm not certain.

Sigh.

Set it to boot off of CD first
When cd says: Press any key to boot off of cd, do so (duh)
Hit F6 when it prompts you (at the BOTTOM of the screen) for any RAID/SCSI drivers
Insert the Driver disk
Point it there.

to everybody who replied, thank you, since you made my day a helluva lot easier. It would have taken me a quite a while to track down the problem.
