Hi people,

I have just completed my first build and have encounted a few problems. The pc boots up fine and enters the bios settings. from there i had a quick look at the temp and my cpu temp is around 85!! this sounds way to hot but doesnt feel hot to touch, could this be a problem with the mobos reading?? also when i choose to boot from cd the mobo sarts beeping when i save and exit (think its because the cpu is above the mobos recomended temp)?

And the second problem is when installing xp when I choose to install it says there is no hard drive installed (i have checked all wires etc and i can see it on the post screen!) any ideas??

Spec is,

Abit kv8pro mobo
athlon 64 3200+ newcastle
supplied heatsink and fan
western digital sata hard drive

Please help as this is driveing me insane!!

(ps sorry for any spelling mistakes or bad english as its not my best subject :) )

The temp issue, is probably your heatsink isn't in contact with the cpu. With the windows XP issue you probably need to install a SATA driver to get it to show up as a hard drive.

Yep, as it clearly states in the manual and in a few thousand threads on here....you need to hit F6 during the install when it asks you for drive controller drivers. Put the floppy in that came with the mobo, and load the driver you need.
