will zeroing-out a drive remove the software overlay (EZ-BIOS) that was installed on it?

a low level format, writing zeros to the drive should remove anything on the drive

When you do a low level format on a disk you get nothing there; if you do that where you have your operative system you'll have nothing in your computer. Generally you do that with a utility downloaded from your hard disk maker and written on a disk (floppy, CD) or on a flash memory card. This boots the computer and writes all hard disk as explained.

a true low level format can only be done in the factory these days, and it actually defines the sectors tracks and cylinders of the drive, along with the servo bursts, all of which are necessary inorder to do a high level format (the servo burst sector are to aid in head positioning)
what is now commonly called a low level format is actually just a zero fill utility that transforms most areas where data can be written to, to all zeros, the areas that arent zeroed out are, bad sectors that have been locked out, spare sectors and Ive witnessed members who have tried to wipe Software Translation Drivers (Dyanmic Drive Overlays) where thasy said a zero fill didnt do the trick?
