I have 2x120GB Seagate Barracuda V's in my computer. I bought them exactly a year ago today. Last night, 6.29, I started noticing sluggish behavior during file transfer from my laptop; my hdd led was abnormally bright and solidly on (over a 100baseT connection). My system was very unresponsive and the laptop's transfer eventaully bombed out, stating that the filename I was trying to copy was already 'taken'. My computer hung, and I restarted out of necessity.
I was copying to a 96GB FAT32 partition on my secondary hard drive, used solely for storage. I have 2 partitions on that drive, a 96GB FAT32 and an NTFS partition of the remaining space for important documents.
I immediately converted my 96GB FAT32 -> NTFS upon reboot, knowing that NTFS is a more robust filesystem. Shortly thereafter, when I tried copying large files again, I noticed from HDDInfo that my transfer mode was set to "MODE: 1031", not Mode 5 UDMA like my primary drive.
I rebooted again, and saw that my secondary drive was not detected in bios. Everything was set to Auto (but the 2nd chain had defaulted to NONE). I manually changed xfer mode to Mode 4/5 and rebooted again.
Now in windows, with my drives both detected on boot, and my HDDInfo program reporting a T.E.C. on 6.30.2004 (it was now after midnight), I immediately copied some important files to my main hdd.
What should I do now? Is there any way to check my drives true condition? HDDInfo is now reporting a 25% precision rate, as opposed to the 97% it was reporting before. My stats for the drive are all maxed out at the worst possible settings. Is it time to get an advanced disk replacement from seagate?

Running dual hard drives in my shuttle has always been a heat concern of mine; they idle around 34C and max out around 43C. Could these temps have caused this? I called Seagate when I first got the setup, and they said not to worry if it's below 50C at all times. Should I migrate to a larger case? or a single, larger, drive?
