getting a new machine for my recently purchased house. Power lines are buried and so far not so much as a flicker in the power (well that ive noticed). I dont exactly have a ton of money to throw around and I dont plan on leaving the machine on when im not home, so do I really need a UPS? Or can I just go and buy a decent quality surge protector. In either case please let me know what you recommend brand-wise

thanks

A good surge protector should be suffient...I really like the surgemaster surge protectors..

I am moving to California (Brea to be exact) in March....will I need a UPS?

I am in Minnesota right now, and the only time the power dips is in during a tornado warning, and I have my PC off during those anyway, so I get buy on a surge protector.

Sorry about the thread jack.

I got a APC 350 just cuz it was so cheap 30 bucks shipped. BUt Im sure a Reliable surge protector will be fine. :p

Don't forget to replace a surge protector every few years, the MOV's inside don't last forever...
