UPS selection help

I just recevied a new PC from Velocity Micro and I would like to get a UPS for it. I intend to read the sticky about them but I don't have any time this week and I would like to purchase a UPS as soon as possible.

I want a UPS to protect the PC from surges, spikes, outages, ect, anything that would harm it. I do not really use the PC for critical work, so I don't need to be able to run the PC for a long time in a power outage. Just long enough for me to close whatever programs are running and turn the computer off (five minutes or so, I'd guess).

This will be the first UPS I've ever owned (I used surge protectors previously), so I don't know anything about them. Do you have to replace the batteries often? How much do they cost?

Things I want to hook up to battery protection:
Desktop PC (specs in my signature)
Monitor (21" CRT)

Other things that I want to hook up if there's enough outlets, doesn't have to be battery protected:
Inkjet Printer (very basic color Epson)
Epson Picturemate (4x6 photo printer)
Speakers (just two little ones, not a full on 5.1 or anything ;) )
Dial-up modem (can't get high-speed out here in the sticks)
Router (only have one computer hooked up, but I like that it has a firewall)
USB Scanner (don't use often)

Things I want to get in the future:
High-speed internet and all the things that go with it (modem, router, ect.)
LCD Monitor (No less than a 20")
Possibly a better printer
Possibly an external hard drive
Possibly a media card reader (not sure if those need power)
Possibly some better speakers

I have a Sam's Club membership so I was thinking about getting this one:

Would that be a good one for me? Or is it more powerful then I need?

Thanks so much for any help anyone can provide! I'd really appreciate it!
I'm so glad I found the [H]ard Forum, great people and a great resource!

That should handle your proposed load fine. Consider if you really need printer, speakers, etc on battery power, though - unless you do a lot of printing or must be able to hear sounds, they probably don't need power.

Like I said in the original post, that kind of stuff doesn't have to be battery protected. I would like it to be surge protected though so that no spikes or anything can go through it to my computer.

I am making the drive into Dallas tomorrow and I would like to get some more opinions before I buy that UPS from Sam's Club.
