UPS question

I am in the process of building a new PC and I am considering getting a UPS. I have never had a need for one, nor do I know anything more about them other than the fact that they provide a backup power source in case of AC failure. I do nothing more than web browsing, chat, email, gaming etc on my PC, so I have never justified a need for one. Until now.

I have discovered that the electricity coming into my house is of "questionable" quality. I do have and use surge protectors, but I am looking for something that will clean my power source up. Do UPS units do this? I want the cleanest 115v @ 60 hz to be delivered to my new machine, especially during the summer, we get a lot of brownouts/power outages where I live.

A UPS will do this if it has boost and trim AVR (automatic voltage regulation.)

Don't be fooled. Some UPS's do not have any form of AVR. :(

If you're just plugging a PC and monitor into it, just get something that's at least 520VA with AVR.

for an ok budget solution you could check out belkin.com, they have 50% off coupons if you search around, the last coupon code was 123456 or something like that.

the description must clearly state "AVR" or "auto voltage regulation", otherwise i guarantee it won't have it.
