Just got a new Tripplite 1500va UPS and worked fine day 1, now it's constantly clicking and caused (assuming it was the cause) lights to dim briefly last night.

I live in a crap shack that still has a fuse box, so is it just shitty power that might cause this? Just spent a ton on my new pc set up so the idea of not running through a UPS isn't high on my list. Any line filtering that might help?

If the lights are dimming, it's most likely shitty power and your UPS is kicking on and off. It could also be your UPS is now on the fritz as well, especially if the power quality is just that bad.

Filtering.... the easiest filtering would be a straight AC-DC-AC setup... old school redneck way would be a 12V car battery, with it on a trickle charger plugged into the wall, and your stuff all plugged into a 1KW power inverter coming straight off the car battery.

But your best case is to probably call an electrician and the utility company - get that shit fixed at the source before it burns your house down.

Your answer sounds expensive but also what I feared.

The burning down risk is acceptable just worried about the computer here.....
