So I am in the process of upgrading my PC to 3x6970 TriFires and the HP 30" LCD 2560x1600. Anyways I just received my monitor and tested it out on 2560x1600. The problem that I am having is that once I get in a game the alarm sounds indicating that I am using more wattage than what the backup battery can give me in the event that power goes out. I am using the APC ES 750. The only thing that I have plugged into the battery portion is the monitor and PC.

So my question is, what do other people do about this? Should I buy a new UPS? This is a new one and with my new setup I might be hitting close to 1KW of power.

Well you obviously need a bigger UPS, but changing the PSU won't at all change the load on the UPS. It may in fact reduce it due to the high efficiency of the AX series PSUs.

That 1500VA UPS should do fine, although it is priced a bit high. I haven't checked lately, but in the past you could find those model units for around $125-$150 on sale.
