hello,

I have two desktop system and both of systems have 2-years-old uninterruptible power supplies. And both of UPS s have nowadays started turning off themselves in 10-15 seconds after electricity is cut off. The strange thing is that the problem for both UPS s almost started at the same time.

What to do to solve? I think the batteries inside them needs to be replaced?

Thank you in advance

Which shows just how much you can trust the backup supply's automatic battery test. :(

Unplug the backups and measure each battery with a digital multimeter ($3 from Harbor Freight is fine). If the voltage is even a tiny bit below 12.6V, the battery is in bad shape. Maybe you can save it by trickle charging it at much lower than normal current (50 milliamps) and about 16 volts for several days, but I doubt it.

When the battery is in the backup and the backup is plugged into an AC outlet, the voltage across it should be about 13.6V, if the charging circuit is working right, but I don't know if it's safe to measure this while the AC power is connected.
