UPS, need help

So figured since i just spent about a grand on new PC and grabing the GF a new vid card I should buy a good UPS. to protect our sytems
My comp is in sig( 19
acer monitor). Hers is amd athlon 64 x2 3600+, HD3870, 430 earthwatts. ( 17' HP monitor w/ speakers inside)
I''ve never bought a UPS before so figured i'd need help since im completely clueless!

There are some UPS calculators out there to kind of gauge your needs. One thing to factor in regardless (or in conjunction with really...) of your actual draw between two machines: how much run time do you want to budget for in the case of an outage? A few minutes for a save/shutdown, or longer perhaps (?)- that will impact your VA needs a lot I'd think.

also, at leat one of the major UPS makers has an online calculator as well if I recall, don't remember which though.

ps Note: I'm really clueless too, so my comments may only be worth a few grains of salt - one of these days I might actually puchase a UPS, seeing as my wall power sucks ass! I've been able to trip the breakers before (PC/fridge/radiator heater+possibly micro -> same circuit, on at same time=nuh-uh on the 120v ).
