So I bought the Coolermaster 1000w Modular PSU.

I want a UPS that will just give me enough time for the PC to shut down in the event of a power failure.

Would something like this cover me; http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=UP-022-AP&groupid=702&catid=55&subcat=

I know the output isn't 1000w, but I've been told it doesn't have to be? Because I won't be running off the UPS for a long period, just long enough for a quick shutdown.

So while the PC is plugged in and running, would it be getting full power? Or would it be limited to the UPS it is running through?

A PSU only provides the power it needs, so your 1000W PSU will hopefully never be providing 1000W....:)

That being said, under normal conditions that UPS will be fine..It shows an uptime of 4.2 minutes at a 330w draw..... so unless your drawing crazy power, you would have more than enough time for a shutdown.
