Upgrading Wireless Network

Im going to be upgrading my wireless network to 802.11g soon and had a question. I heard that if you use 802.11b products on a g network it slows down the whole network. To prevent this would it be better to use my current access point/router and have a whole separate 802.11b network than the 802.11g network for the wireless-b products? I am currently using and will be buying all linksys products.

The only way a b device should slow down your whole network is if your router/ap is a b device. Otherwise no device will affect another's speed.

I tried piggybacking two routers, my new Belkin 802.11G and the old Linksys 802.11B router. I was going to try sharing BB with my building while maintaining personal network security. The speed using the new router was only a moderate increase from about 5mps to about 11. I removed the B router and the speed improved to about 48-54 mbs. So in this case the Linksys B router was causing interference.
But, if you have some B wireless adapters and some G adapter in your computers it doesn't make a difference on overall network speed.
