I know this should be a no-brainer at this point (either the 9800 Pro or XT) BUT, I need to know in which flavor which I be pointing to? I've heard about the sapphire (good RAM OCer, and this is pretty much it).

Is there any advantages on going ATI directly or should I get a "recommended" non-Built by ATI card? Are there any particular better ocers other than Sapphire?

If there is no difference I would just go with an ATI original card.

TIA!!!

just get a ati radeon 9800pro great deal if you got the cash get a 9800xt its basically a overclocked 9800pro

Are all the RAM chips (ATI, OEM, etc...) the same or some overclock better? Thx for ur response.

samsung memory tends to show better overclocking either go with Ati or Sapphire they are basically the same.

I picked up a "Built By ATI" Radeon 9800 Pro/128MB yesterday afternoon. My first 3DMark2001SE score on my recently upgraded main system was 14,839 - and that was at stock speed, settings set for best performance, and AGP Fast Writes enabled.

I will re-run the tests with AGP Fast Writes turned off, and will report back. I will also run 3DMark2003, as well.

I got that score with my system as is. I am shooting more for the DX9 compatibility than anything else. NFS-U should look kick ass on a DX9 card.

Your score is pretty good considering the 2Ghz machine. Keep us posted dood. I need input. TIA!!!

Actually, those scores in my sig from that R9800 Pro are typical for a 2.6GHz-class computer system (Athlon XP Barton 2600+ or Pentium 4 2.6c GHz) with nothing at all overclocked whatsoever.

9600XT is a good buy

So is the 9700 Pro or even the 9800 non-pro.

I like Built by Ati, personally, but have heard good things about Sapphire.
