Upgrading to X2

1) Yes your motherboard will support the X2 range of CPU's, only problem is finding them because the 939 range has been discontinued.

2)you will see a considerable increase in performance (assuming u can find one), i upgrades from a 3200+ to a 4000+ X2 and found that MoH: Airborne played at a smooth 30fps
 
Actually, you'd see a much bigger boost in performance with this instead. It isn't dual-core, but it's very fast. If you do want to go dual core, then this is the best option.
 
I was thinking of doing the same thing...I would be going from a single to a dual core but I am unsure if my motherboard supports a dual core. On the following link it says "Athlon dual-core ready" but doesn't appear to show any supported processors except for single-core cpus.

I know people who use X2s with that board so it does support them. Just make sure the BIOS is at the latest revision i.e. 1.D or so.
As for the Optys, they're a great choice. They OC very well and will give excellent performance too. I recommend them if you want a dual core CPU.
 
Ok should I Just use the MSI Updater to update my BIOS then?
 
NTSC is 30fps. Images on DVD and Film look pretty smooth to me. The problem is in a game running at 30fps it isnt a constant 30fps. It dips and moves around.


Or I could be wrong. Apparently according to this site DVDs and other things running at low FPS rates appear smooth to us because of their motion blurring. A sharp image moving at high frame rates still appears bad to our eyes. http://www.100fps.com/how_many_frames_can_humans_see.htm
