Hey [H]orde,
My kids computer is a leftover parts concoction with the following specs:
* X2 3800+
* 4GB DDR2
* Foxconn/Winfast 6150K8MA
* 8800GT
* 500GB 2.5" 5200rpm SATA
* 16x DVD-RW SATA
* Corsair CX600
* Rosewill M-Line uATX
Want to upgrade the MoBo, CPU, and get an SSD. Prefer an Intel processor (I'm thinking dual core Celeron/Pentium on the cheap), but AMD is perfectly acceptable.
NO MICROCENTER OR FRY'S NEAR ME.
(damn it)
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
* Gaming - and not cutting-edge stuff. Kids are young, so they get to stick with games like Sid Meier's Pirates, Ducktales remastered, and the like
* Media Streaming (Netfilx, AmzPrm, Hulu)
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
* <= $300 shipped, and the cheaper the better
3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.
* USA, NE
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
* CPU
* MoBo
* SSD with synchronous NAND - size over speed is better, but not slow and crappy like the asynchronous-equipped Kingston V300
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
* Chassis
* PSU
* ODD
* 8GB DDR3-1333 1.5V
* MSI GTX 570 TF-II 1.25GB
* Xigmatech Loki 92mm + Prolimatech PK-3
* 4x120mm AC PWM case fans
6) Will you be overclocking?
* No
7) What is the max resolution of your monitor? What size is it?
* 20" 1080p D-sub 15 only - already have DVI-D to VGA adapter
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
* 5-10 days
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video (as a backup or main GPU)? UEFI? etc.
* uATX
* USB 3.0 header
* All fan headers must be 4-pin
* 2+ native SATA-III ports
* 8-pin CPU power header would be nice, but not mandatory
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If so, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
* Yes - Windows 7 Ultimate x86-64
