Upgrading The Girls Computer,Need Suggestions

I have a Intel I7 940 with 6GB ram and Two 6970's cross-fired. Her whole system needs a overhaul. She cant even play starcraft....the first one haha!. With that said, im thinking of just handing her my I7 940, Evga board and my ram and get myself more juice!. Just need some comments on what to get. I7 970 with 12gb ram Triple channel? or SB 2600K with 8GB ram running duel channel?. Seems SB is powerful based on Anandtech cpu comparison from upgrading to I7 940> SB then a I7 940>970
 
If you are building new, go with SB - probably the 2500K coupled with DDR3-1600 RAM, although 1333 works fine also.
 
I5 750 shit, get a good deal on one and a cheap mobo, overclock it to 4.2 or so, voila.
 
If video encoding is your priority get the 970. If everything else is your priority get the 2600k.
