Ok. Getting my PC upgraded. Just want to see what people think and if I should make any changes.

I don't know too much about this but from what I've read on here and what the guy at the store told me.

Anyway, here's some specs. Old specs are on the right. Any comments are welcome.

-AMD 2800+ XP
-Nvidia 128 MB FX 5900 XT
-Asus A7N8X-E-Deluxe
-512 DDR 400 (So totaled to 1 GB)
-Extra 80 GB HDD 7200
-Coolmaster Speed Fan (Something like that for like only $9)

Chose the 5900 and Asus off help from here but all in all, any opinions on this or anything I should change.

Thanks

Thats close to what I have, but I would opt for the 9800pro, as cheap as they are now why not?

I'd probably go with a 2500+ over a 2800+, unless you're not going to be overclocking. The 2500+ is cheaper, and will probably overclock to about the same speeds as a 2800+. Probably not worth the extra money. And ditto about the 9800 pro... :)

Thanks guys.

I probably won't be overclocking. Never done it before and really know nothing about it so I'd have to stick with the 2800.

As for the 9800 Pro, they're like $680 here (Australia) compared to me picking up that 5900 XT for only $295.

It was the 5900 XT or a 9600 XT so I went for the 5900.

Everything else is fine though?

Ouch about the price... Yeah, stick with the 5900. And everything looks great to me if you won't be overclocking!

Awesome.....Just needed some confirmation before I went ahead with it.

One more question though, I heard the AMD's can get heated. Would that fan take care of the cooling. I don't think it's that great but it's probably better than nothing.

Should I get a better one?

Thanks

That fan will be fine as the only case fan, if you're not overclocking temps don't matter a whole lot, unless they are crazy high. And they never really get crazy high at stock speeds, so you should be fine. It's always a good idea to check and see what the temps are after you build the system though, just to be on the safe side. :)
