Alright, not really a virtualization topic but this is where the SAN crowd is as opposed to the storage forum.
I am committed to buying a VNXe 3100 as new "tier 1" production storage. This will relegate my current PS5000E to backup storage duties. However, the PS5000E is stuffed with 16 250GB disks. Just for giggles I looked at the Dell web site and it an 8-pack of 1 TB SATA drives for the PS5000 priced at a cool $20,000, do note that I'd need 16 drives.
I understand that the web price is for suckers, but even at some discount that's likely still more money for drives than it would cost to simply buy a new (additional) array.
