Upgrading Pentium M Processor

I have a Toshiba M30 laptop and their newer M45. The M30 has a 1.4GHz Pentium M processor w/ 1MB cache. The M45 has a 1.7GHz Pentium M processor w/ 2MB Cache. I was wondering if it would be possible to switch the processors and what would need to be done software/bios wise to accomplish this. I'm assuming this isn't a "plug-n-play" deal. Any help would be great, thanks!!!
 
It would require BIOS support of the new processor. For instance, my Pentium M based motherboard required a BIOS upgrade for Dothan (2 MB L2 cache) support. You wouldn't likely encounter incompatibility at the chipset or OS level, but lack of BIOS support will stop you in your tracks, so to speak.
 
How would I go about aquiring and installing the new bios? Would the newer laptop (M45) need new bios or would it recognize the older processor? Any help would be great, I'm pretty inexperienced when it comes to the processor side of things. Thanks!

then click Downloads. Select your computer, click Go, then click Downloads on the page that comes up. Download the latest BIOS file. It's a self-extracting EXE file that includes a README file with instructions.

I checked one of the many M30 models and noticed that a newer BIOS file offers support for the Dothans, which have 2 MB of L2 cache.
