Upgrading OEM Samsung SSD

I've got a Samsung SSD MMDOE56G5MXP-0VBH1 with firmware VBM1AH1Q that doesn't support TRIM. The SSD was taken from an HP machine and because the Samsung firmware update is destructive, HP won't release the firmware update.

I've read some info about upgrading the firmware, anyone familiar with it?

Is it worth the trouble to update the firmware to gain TRIM support?
