I currently have a Linksys WRT160 (I think) its their gigabit router. I have a synology ds710+ (used as a personal cloud device) and a desktop pc that I do some gaming on hard wired to my router. I also have multiple laptops, multiple Iphone/Ipods, a PS3, WII and a thermostat connected via wifi.
I am considering in relocated my network to a different part of the house and I'm looking at the option of upgrading my router to something better. I would like something that can allow video streaming locally and remotely. And something that can handle data transfer between devices and can handle largish files. Such as media editing and transferring files between devices and my cloud.
I also stream movies to my ps3 over wifi and cant complain about lag for that. I continue to use my ps3 to have my media streamed to.
It was mentioned that I could get a internet switch that I would place after my modem and have my synology ds710+ and my router plugged into the switch As this can give better speeds to my cloud?
If thats the case, and If I am able to hard wire my ps3 to the switch as well. This way I can divide the devices a little bit?
Or would there a better solution to that or to what I have?
