well I havent had this thing 48 hours yet and Im already thinking about what could be upgraded...of course Im not going to do it for a while, but I want to have any upgrades planned, to maximize my money and my time.

this is what I have so far:

dangerden maze 4
hydor L20
heatercore
some crappy panaflo fan
filled by t-line

now there are 3 possible things that I see to upgrade. one is the pump, this thing barely pushes anything when compared to other pumps. me, being a dumbass, didnt know i could get huge pumps really cheaply at marine stores. I apologize for being a tard.

the second possible upgrade is the fan. right now I am using the only 120 fan I have. it sucks a LOT. pushes barely nothing, its huge, and its black, and since I have the fan externally mounted on my case (rad is inside), its a big black fan on a silver case. I was looking at the Evercool Chrome 120mm Fan at dangerden, its the cheapest fan they have but its also the best cfm:noise ratio, plus its also silver which would look better with the case.

the third and final possible upgrade is the CPU block. the maze4 is good but the RBX/whitewater are said to be better. problem is I dont have a huge pump that could support those, and theyre the most expensive possible upgrade...i dont think that the few degress id get would justify such a huge expense.

right now my setup is 100-102 (37-39 C) full load, 93 (33 C) idle. this is with ambient of 75 (24 C). I just am wondering which upgrade would give the best drops in temps. Ideally id like 93 (33 C) load and < 86 (30 C) idle, but I realize that may require much more than those upgrades.

also, a new rad is pretty much impossible. right now I have it crammed in the top of my PC601 with a hole (i will be posting pics in the thread soon). its very, very tight as it is. i dont think anything else would fit. a dual 120 would be very, very questionable. besides, ive seen much lower temps with this heatercore; wheres MY super low temps?

thanks for any thoughts.

I would upgrade that fan now if at all possible. Its the cheapest and will possibly provide a good drop in temperatures if your current fan is a bad as you say it is. I have the 120mm chrome fan from dangerden on my BIX and I love it. Nice and quiet.

As far as the other components, the next thing I would look at is a larger pump. Consider getting a Dannermag 3, Eheim 1250, or the L30.

If you want to take advantage of the flowrates these pumps have to offer, then consider getting the RBX with the #5 nozzle, or one of Cather's blocks (the whitewater now sold through dtek, or the Cascade).

The one thing that you NEED to upgrade if you are looking for a substantial drop in temperatures is the radiator. Maybe finding a nice dual heatercore or dual radiator that can fit into your case would do wonders for your temps.

Have fun and happy upgrading

I do need a new fan, that is in fact what I decided to get first. its also the cheapest :D

as for the pump, since you dont get a huge benefit once you pass 1 GPM, I will only up the pump when I get a new block.

As for the rad, if I can find a dual heatercore thatll fit, that will be my second object. However that will be very tricky...

Yeh Evercool fan are good suckers of air i have four of them 2 from dtek (with 2 procores) and 2 from dangerden when I ordered water wetter. At full speed you can hear them but its not that loud. Right know I'm still building the acrylic box for the WC rig procores and the fans are too big to put inside the case.

Pump: Eheim 1250 or Danner Mag 3 or Swiftech MCP-600 or Iwaki MD15 or MD20
Fan: Evercool 120mm Aluminum fan or Panaflo M1A
