Ive got a few questions actually. Im upgrading from a p4 1.4ghz, and 512mb sdram.

Should i get a 2.6c or a 2.8c p4, i probably will OC' eventually.
I want to get some decently fast ram, i have my eye on this
-DDR-RAM Corsair PC3700 (466) 512MB TwinX CAS3

What is Cas3 apposed to cas2?

What mobo should i get to support this ram? does the IS7 and IC7 support it? and what are the differences between the 2 mobo's?

for harddrives , is it worth spending the extra cash for a 10k drive?

Thanks,
Foz

cas 2 vs cas 3 the difference is the latency of the memory - cas2 is faster than 3 (therefore more expensive) the speed difference probably wont be noticed by most users - however since you want to overclock go cas 2 as this memory is better for overclocking... look hard at eh memory you have (good brand) what is its cas 2 speed? if it is ddr 400 or the like it is good stuff and should be fine
as for intel boards, I havent had an intel board since the celeron 333 days -so cant help there
as for the hard drives - yes the 10k drive will show a marked improvement over a 7200 drive - especially serial ata - as the harddrive still is a major bottleneck in computer performance

if it were me id go with the 2.6, the is7 is an older(i think), and slightly slower mobo. the p4c(or p)800-deluxe is a good mobo. id go for 2 sticks of pc3500 or 3200 ram, matched if posible. and the lower the cas the better, but its not HUGLY important, so go for what fits your budget

a 10k drive is only realy that much better in a RAID 0 set up, and even then its not that big. if you do video editing and move large files alot(which is kinda counter productive as 10k drives arent that big) then you wont see a big gain. id just get 2 nice 7.2k drives and raid them togother.
