Upgrading from GTX 9800+ need help

Need your help.

I wanted to upgrade my GeForce 9800GTX+. Want to keep it as close to $200 as possible, after rebate is fine.
I play WoW, CoD, the new MoH. My computer specs are in my sig.
I was looking at the EVGA 460 or 465 at $230 and $200 on the 'Egg.

Can't go wrong with a 460. It's a pretty solid card.

If you want a crack at Eyefinity there's always the 5770 which I would say is still the best price/performance ratio for AMD.
 
either a 460 1gb model or wait and see what the new amd 6800 cards are going to be like, supposed to rival the previous gens top end card so that would put it quite a bit faster than a 460 or 5770.
 
The 6850 should be unveiled in a few days, it's rumored to have a MSRP of $175. You should wait for the release of the 6000 series before making any purchases.
 
don't go 465, it's not a wise price/performance card.

Whatever you do, wait a week and see, unless the current price drops are tempting you, in which case the GTX 460 is a solid pick.
 
+1 5770 I have that card and a 470. The 5770 is still very capable and is pretty cheap (slightly stronger than a GTS260.) I wouldnt buy it is a perm solution. But for sub $150 I would certainly get it and hold on for a year for the 6k series drivers to get some age.

I hope you mean gts250. and it would be silly for him to get a 5770 as that would be a very small upgrade from a 9800gtx+.
 
Go for a 1GB GTX460. It'll smoke a GTS450, your 9800GTX+, a HD5770, it's a bit faster than a HD5830 and about on par with a GTX465 (and runs cooler & uses far less power).

IMO the GTX460 is the mid-range king ATM, cool, quiet, low power usage, and very good performance for not a lot of money

I would wait a week no matter what you want. AMD 6850/6870 are set to drop in days and even if you are a Nvidia guy, they might further cut GTX 460 prices depending on what AMD does.
 
Wait for AMD's new 6000 and see how it performs vs the GTX 460. Right now is probably the worst time to upgrade to a new video card , just be patient.
 
+1 on the "wait 1 week" camp.

I mean, the unveiling of the 6000's midrange will be this coming monday, and given a couple of days for market adjustment, 1 week oughta do it.
 
Well everywhere it says the 18th, sure no date is official, but seeing as almost every new card has been released the monday instead of any other day of the week :-P

Its next week (sometime) from what many sites are saying. I'm curious to how it will perform and if AMD can finally close in on that performance gap for the money. Its always nice to have the competition as it drives down costs.
 
Wait a week. You will thank yourself. If the 6000 is as fast as they say, it's going to be the card to get. It should outperform the 460 and drive prices down onit as well.

No, I meant a 5770 which is equivalent to a GTS260 and ~$150 which leaves you plenty of breathing room in your budget and can get a second one for later.

A 460 is a little bit over but would be a very nice upgrade. Not sure what the 6k series is going to have in store for us, but either way, I would give it a few months on a new ati card for the drivers to gain some maturity.

first off there is no gts260. so if you meant the gtx260 then you are bit wrong earlier saying the 5770 is slightly stronger because its actually slightly slower overall. there might be couple cases where it could match or even best the gtx260 but that's it. a 5770 is only about 15-20% faster than a 9800gtx+ so it would not even be much of an upgrade at all.
