Upgrading from a GTX 280... possible?

I've recently become interested in SLI, but have realized that, since my motherboard and power supply would both need upgrading, as well as getting the second card, it just would not be economical.

So, what I'm wondering is if there is any single card solution out now, or in the near future, that would provide a substantial benefit from my GTX 280 (which sadly does not overclock well at all). I'm looking for a 30%+ benefit, and would rather not delve into the realm of dual card solutions (GTX 295), as I've read there are graphical problems with these types of cards... or have these problems been resolved largely? I am mostly looking for nVidia suggestions.

When are nVidia's new generation of cards due? I might need to wait for those...

what does the rest of your pc look like? and of course there will be a much faster single gpu card in the future...
 
GTX 280 is still pretty much top of the line. There is no single-GPU card that has a 30% advantage as you required...
