upgrading from 6600gt

Im still rocking a pny 6600gt. I came here and there. When I do game its bf2, bf2142, ned for speed carbon, call of duty 2. I was looking at getting a 7600gs as an upgrade because I dont want to spend too much on a video card since I am not a huge gamer. I see compusa has a 7600gs for $130 is this worth the upgrade or should I wait a little longer? Oh my system specs are:
p4 820d
3gb ram
160gb sata drive
1x dvd burner soon to be 2
 
Yes a 7600gs is an excellent choice for your price range. Sure, you could get a better video card for a little more $$$ but then for a little extra you could get an even better card, so it's a never ending cycle. Get the 7600gs. :)
 
I think you can get the 7600GT for about that on Newegg. Check out XFX's offerings, they're usually cheaper than other companies' cards.
 
Yeah, AR on the egg, there has been prices of BFG, XFX, evga 7600 GT's going for $114-120. It's not infrequent either.
 
6600gt to 7600gs isnt much, but a 7600gt would be a decent boost for the price.
 
If you want a better deal for a little more, look for the 7900gs on newegg. there's one that's going for 160ar
 
That card is $30 over his budget, not including the before rebate $$$ he has to pony up.

Like I said in the 2nd post, there is ALWAYS a better video card for "just" $30 or more bucks more....

hmm i don't see how he said his budget was 130. he mentioned he saw a 7600gt at cusa for 130. and i agree that for just a bit more you can keep climbing the ranks, but the jump from 7600 to 7900 is more major than most of your $30 upgrades
 
I went from a 6600GT to a 7600GT (OC'd hard-ish) and it was a big big improvement. Recently upgraded to a 7900GS and it's better, just not a night and day improvement.

If the OP can manage the 7900GS - around $160 - 185 that would be a good move.

But even a $115 7600GT would be a very nice upgrade too.
 
i just installed the 7600GS. i had a 6600. i like the upgrade. i can play my games. on higher settings now. i love it.
 
I went from a 6600GT in my work rig to an X800XL. It was a made HUGE difference in games. Very worth it for you to get the 7600.
